SCHOOL PROFILE

Masville National High School is a medium-sized school that accepts all types of learners. The school runs a full basic secondary education program across all grade levels and offers OHSP and ALS. It provides quality education tailored according to the needs and capabilities of every learner, with coherent, consistent, and aligned curriculum that includes authentic learning experiences, a variety of assessment strategies and use of digital technology.

Exemplifying out tagline “Motivated Nimble Heroes of the South”, teachers and staff are quick and responsive in giving students the opportunity to play an equal part in the community and society in general. Each student feels a sense of belonging and a sense of worth. The schools’ advocacy is to home their skills, talents, and potentials with respect to understanding the needs of their various learning styles.

In the past 22 years of existence, Masville National High Scholl noted a remarkable improvement in the achievement of both teachers and learners which define a narrow gap in the identified areas for improvement: Parental involvement, long term partnership with stakeholders – internal and external, continuously support the schools’ program, and other related activities and projects that brought a meaningful turn to the school.

GEOGRAPHY

Masville National High School is a public secondary school geographically located along Sucat Highway which can be reached through public mode of transportation like public utility vehicle e.g., jeepney and tricycle.

Because the school is situated within the heart of an informal settlement, there were already reported incidence of crimes and other human-induced hazards. For the last three years, there were theft and physical injury against students’ incidents that have been reported. Physicall injury is the most frequent crime or human-induced hazard incident in the school.

Due to the congestion of residences and buildings in the area, incidences of fire and flood have been reported for the last three years. The most frequent natural hazards in the school and the community were the flood and fire.

LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

As far as learning environment is concerned, the number of classrooms and students is almost ideal. The total enrolment for the current SY 2022-2023 is 1,484 from JHS to SHS (as of January 2023) while the total number of classrooms are 17 which are all in god conditions but need to repair the pulverized flooring which is hazardous to students’ health. The learner per classroom ratio is minimum of 42 to 50 students in two shifts. The ratio of students per classroom is almost ideal especially in our nonstandard classroom size which need additional wall fans to provide good ventilation in the classrooms.

To ensure cleanliness, the schools has also water, sanitation, and hygiene facilities. The local piped water supply is available and functional for the school for drinking and sanitation purposes. In addition,  the sink and lavatories are available for handwashing. More over, there are two toilets for the boys and girls but need to be repaired or rehabilitated due to clogged pipes (after so many years of usage) to provide conducive contort rooms to students.
